A new croquet season and the White Tops is ready to go again.  Our very popular White Tops sessions will start again this Thursday – that is Thursday 18th April 2019.

We start at 2pm but it is very helpful if you arrive by 1.45 – gives the organiser a chance to organise the pairings whilst everyone else puts out the hoops, balls, bisques and chairs.  It will cost you 25p (well we have to pay for our great prizes) and please wear a White Top.  We finish about 4.15

We play Doubles Association Croquet on a short lawn and when a team is in play each player takes alternate shots.  Each team has six bisques.  Games take about 55 minutes, so the format is two games separated by break for tea and cake.

The organiser selects all the teams and as far as possible pairs higher handicappers with lower handicap players, to give evenly matched games.  Everyone is welcome from Beginners to Experts – If you are a beginner, your partner will explain everything, help you round and give a bit of coaching on the hoof.  The aim of the afternoon is to have fun whilst playing a very friendly, yet competitive, game of Croquet in an informal manner.  Players from the afternoon unbeaten teams have the opportunity to shoot at the peg to win the weekly star prize, and look after the Mini Chalice, the player who wins the most prizes over the season is awarded a very handsome trophy to keep on their mantelpiece until the following season.

Wearing a white shirt, blouse, jumper, etc. pays a traditional respect to the wonderful game of Croquet and identifies you as a player in this weekly event.

Looking forward to seeing you all again
